About Us

Who We Are

Mountain Aging Partners (MAP) is a nonprofit organization supporting older adults and their caregivers in Henderson and Buncombe Counties through a range of aging services — including Meals on Wheels and Adult Day programs that foster nourishment, independence, and connection.

We also provide resources, guidance, and support to help individuals and families navigate the aging journey with confidence and choice.

We believe everyone deserves access to care, community, and dignity as they age — regardless of income, background, or circumstance.

Meeting a Rapidly Growing Need

One in four adults in Western North Carolina is over the age of 65 — and that number is projected to grow by 40% in the next two decades. As our population ages, service access and quality must grow alongside it. MAP was created to meet this need.

Our Legacy of Community Service

We're here for your loved ones.

Founded separately as the Council on Aging for Henderson County in 1969 and Mountain Gerri-CARE (later MountainCare) in 1986, both agencies shared a common purpose: helping older adults age safely at home and in community.

Over the decades, this mission has taken many forms — from Meals on Wheels routes to adult day centers, from caregiver support programs to community thrift stores that help sustain these vital services.

Now united as MAP, we honor this legacy while expanding access and deepening our advocacy for aging adults and the families who love them.

Committed to Care and Security

At MAP, we provide more than services — we create a sense of safety, connection, and care.

Through our Adult Day programs, older adults find purpose, joy, and belonging in a supportive, engaging environment.

Through Meals on Wheels, homebound individuals receive not only nutritious meals but also regular wellness checks and the comfort of human connection.

Together, these services give caregivers the peace of mind that their loved ones are supported, seen, and cared for with dignity and compassion.
